Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the oldest political foundation in Germany, has extended their invitation to Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala to participate in a Political and Economical system study tour to Germany which is scheduled to run from the 22nd to the 28th of May 2011. Hon. Duminda Dissanayaka will be accompanying him on this study as well.
During their informative visit sessions, they will be given a complete insight in to the social democracy in Germany, the role of the Parliament in the Political system, the German Party System, local economics and politics, the movement of lobby organizations such as trade unions, the role of media, youth politics and a social democratic perspective on economic policy in the country.
The primary theme, however, will evolve around “A Social Democratic Perspective on Economic Policy in Germany.” The Sri Lankan delegation will also visit the Federal Foreign Office, the German parliament, Bundestag in connection with their political discussions.
During their tour they are scheduled to meet up with German Parliamentarians and their respective counter parties. They will meet Gunter Josef Rauer, Head of Division South Asia, Federal Foreign Office, members from the Free University of Berlin members of the German-South Asian Parliamentary Group and others. They will also exchange their views on the Eastward Challenge: Party Politics in the East German States.

He requested the Municipal Council to inform him in writing of its plan for reconstruction, with a copy to the Director of Road Reconstruction while requesting the Municipal Council and Road Reconstruction Director to discuss this issue and get all officers concerned involved in this project
Regarding the problem of water not subsiding in the Tharawatte area, the President pointed out that a plan for suitable drainage system to be constructed should be put forward and if land has to be acquired for this plan to be implemented and if there is a problem in acquisition of such land, as stated by the Municipal Council and Engineers, a written request should be made by the Officers concerned..
